How do I claim with Petsecur?

At Petsecur we understand that speed and convenience matter a great deal when you claim medical costs for your pet. Here are the main steps and the information you need to know about submitting claims to Petsecur:

  1. Payment in advance:

    • Unfortunately we cannot pay invoices in advance. We aim to assess claims quickly and even give priority to amounts above € 500. You can, however, ask your vet to arrange a deferral of payment, so that you have received the money before you pay.

  2. Time limit for submitting:

    • We reimburse invoices that are no more than 3 months old.

  3. Submitting claims:

    • You can easily submit your vet’s invoice through the claim form on our website. Many vets can send the invoice to your email address digitally. If you have a paper invoice, scan it or take a clear photo of it before you upload it.

  4. Microchip identification required:

    • We can only accept claims for pets that are microchipped. Make sure your pet has an identification chip before you submit a claim.

  5. Payment of claims:

    • As soon as you submit a claim you receive an immediate confirmation and we get to work straight away. We aim to pay out claims quickly. For amounts above € 500 we even give processing priority, so they can be paid out faster still.

How do I cancel my policy with Petsecur?

At Petsecur we understand that there may be moments when you consider cancelling your pet insurance. Here are the main steps and the information you need to know about cancelling your pet insurance:

  1. Annual renewal:
    • Your pet insurance is renewed automatically every year, unless you cancel at least one month before the new contract year starts.
  2. Cancelling after the death of your pet:
    • If your pet has passed away, we want to make this process as simple as possible for you. Report the death to us within 30 days and we will make sure the policy is stopped on the first premium due date after the death. Any premium paid in excess will be refunded.
  3. Procedure:
    • To cancel your policy after a death, we need a certificate of death from your vet.

What kind of insurance does PetSecur offer for dogs and cats?
PetSecur offers flexible pet insurance for dogs and cats, with a choice of three packages: Basis, Standaard and Extra. Each package covers medical costs up to a set maximum and percentage, depending on the level you choose.
Depending on your package, you are reimbursed between 50% and 90% of the veterinary costs incurred. The maximum reimbursement per year ranges from € 3.250 to € 12.500. Think of consultations, operations, medication, hospital admission and diagnostics (such as X-rays or blood tests).

The premium differs per animal and depends on factors such as age, breed, chosen package and own risk.
As a guideline:

  • Cats are insured from ± € 10,91 per month
  • Dogs from ± € 12,88 per month

You can choose an annual own risk of € 0, € 50, € 100 or € 150. The higher your own risk, the lower your monthly premium.

Yes. Once you have taken out the policy, a standard waiting period of 14 days applies to medical treatment. For some specific conditions, such as cruciate ligament problems, a longer waiting period of 2 months applies.

As with other pet insurance policies, pre-existing conditions, preventive treatments (unless additionally insured) and cosmetic procedures are not reimbursed. Alternative therapies and behavioural therapy also fall outside the standard cover.

Yes, PetSecur offers optional add-ons for, among other things:

  • Preventive care (vaccinations, worming, etc.)

You can combine these add-ons to suit your own preferences.
